New Jersey based singer-songwriter Sharon Goldman joins us on Episode 487 of Folk Roots Radio to chat about her fine new album “Every Trip Around The Sun”, the follow up to the very well-received “KOL ISHA – A Woman’s Voice” from 2016 which focused on Sharon’s experience growing up in an orthodox Jewish family on Long Island. The new recording has garnered more praise, with a great selection of songs – some topical, some romantic, some nostalgic and some inspirational – and all of them well-crafted and engaging. Episode 266: Summerfolk 2016

The 41st Summerfolk Music and Crafts Festival takes place August 19-21, in Kelso Park, on the shores of Georgian Bay, in Owen Sound ON. The festival features more than 40 musical acts from across Canada and across the world representing genres from folk, country and bluegrass, to blues, to hip-hop and funk.  And, like any great folk festival they also have lots of children’s activities, community workshops, artisan booths, dozens of food vendors… and two licensed areas. JD Edwards – The Interview

Winnipeg’s JD Edwards joined us for an impromptu session and interview at the Folk Music Ontario conference this past October. During our wide-ranging conversation, we discussed JD’s involvement with both The JD Edwards Band and his exciting new project, The Small Glories, a duo with Cara Luft, formerly of The Wailin’ Jennys and now forging a successful solo career. The Small Glories expect to release their first album this summer.
