It was good to be back in the studio after a wonderful weekend at the Kingsville Folk Music Festival. On August 16 (Episode 163) we decided that an all music show was in order – lots of it new, however we still found time for our mystery theme and guilty pleasure.

Folk Roots Radio on August 2 2014 (Episode 161) focused on the inaugural Kingsville Folk Music Festival (August 8-10) and featured interviews with Peter Boyer (from Same Latitude As Rome) and Fred Penner as well as an in-studio appearance by Tia McGraff.
Folk Roots Radio on July 26 2014 (Episode 160) featured interviews with Lauren Mann from Lauren Mann And The Fairly Odd Folk and slide guitarist Dennis Johnson alongside the usual music mix.
Folk Roots Radio on July 19 2014 (Episode 159) featured interviews with Union Duke, Matt Andersen and Andy White. As usual we found time to play some great, new – and not so new, music plus the obligatory mystery theme and guilty pleasure.

Folk Roots Radio on June 21 2014 (Episode 155) featured interviews with Nicky Mehta from The Wailin Jennys and Mike Hill, Artistic Director at the Mariposa Folk Festival.
Folk Roots Radio on June 14 2014 (Episode 154) featured interviews with Amber Quesnel from Winnipeg’s Sweet Alibi and St. John’s singer-songwriter Ian Foster. As usual, we wrapped it all up with lots of great music.
Folk Roots Radio on June 7 2014 (Episode 153) featured the usual mix of great music – some new, some not so new, and a visit from Ian Reid, who joined us in the studio to chat and play a few songs from his new album “Delivered On Delhi Street”. Guelph area Delivered On Delhi Street CD release shows are scheduled for Waterside Park, Rockwood (June 13) and Magnolia Café, Guelph (June 21).
Folk Roots Radio on May 31 2014 (Episode 152) featured our usual mix of great music, and we also had an interview with James Moss from Toronto-based folk-roots band Young Running; they will be performing in Cambridge ON on Friday June 6.

Folk Roots Radio on May 10 2014 (Episode 149) featured an in studio appearance by Montreal-based progressive celtic/bluegrass band The Bombadils and lots of great new music.
Folk Roots Radio on May 3 2014 (Episode 148) featured our mystery theme, lots of new music and a fabulous studio appearance by Drew McIvor.
Folk Roots Radio on April 26 2014 (Episode 147) featured an interview with Rick Avery (from local trad folk combo Relative Harmony) about the Brian Pickell Band‘s visit to Guelph and a welcomed replay of an in studio appearance by Crash Bamboo, feat. Ambre McLean and Preetam Sengupta.
Folk Roots Radio on April 19 2014 (Episode 146) included a couple of interesting interviews – Mark Logan from Encore Records in Kitchener discussing Record Store Day and Sam Baijal, Artistic Director at the Hillside Festival discussing the performers appearing at Hillside 2014.
Folk Roots Radio on April 12 2014 (Episode 145) featured a phone interview with Drew McIvor about his CBC Searchlight nominated song “45s and 33s” and, of course, lots of great music.
Folk Roots Radio on April 5 2014 (Episode 144) featured an in-studio interview with Jack Cooper as well as a live performance from singer-songwriter Gayle Ackroyd.

We had two interviews on Folk Roots Radio on March 29 (Episode 143). Toronto-based singer-songwriter Clela Errington joined us in the first hour, and Fred Eaglesmith after the break.
Folk Roots Radio on March 22 2014 (Episode 142) featured two interviews. During the first hour, Sue Smith and Shannon Kingsbury from The Ondine Chorus joined us to chat about their new E.P. “Towards A Little Light”. Their album launch takes place on Saturday March 29 at 2 p.m. in Guelph at the Macdonald Stewart Art Centre. Later in the show, singer-songwriter Joni Nehrita joined us to talk about her varied musical interests, including her new jazz-styled (download) E.P. “Beginnings”. The Joni Nehrita Quintet play The Guelph Black Heritage Society, Essex St in Guelph on March 29 at 8 p.m.
