Guelph Celtic Orchestra – St Patrick’s Day Extravaganza

The Guelph Celtic Orchestra will hold its annual St. Patrick’s extravaganza at The Royal Canadian Legion in Guelph on Saturday March 16 at 7 p.m. This year’s performance will feature the orchestra, directed by Fiona McCairley, with champion step dancers, and special guests The Guelph Pipe Band and singer Grace Laceby. Later, there will be a ceilidh dance, for all ages, lead by caller Maureen Mulvey O’Leary.  Tickets are $20 advance ($25 at the door), $12 (children aged 6-16) and are available online via the website at guelphceltic.ca and in person at Janus Books, 10 Paisley St., Guelph (cash only).

Guelph Celtic Orchestra – St Patrick’s Day Extravaganza

Guelph Celtic Orchestra are getting ready for their St. Patrick’s Day Extravaganza. This year’s event takes place at the Italian Canadian Club, 135 Ferguson Street, Guelph on Saturday March 18 2017 at 7:30 p.m. (Doors 7 p.m.). This year’s concert also features the Guelph Pipe Band​ and the orchestra’s award winning step dancers. The performance will be followed by a ceilidh dance. Tickets are $20 advance ($25 at the door), $10 (children aged 6-16) and are available through Janus Books, 10 Paisley St., Guelph and their website at guelphceltic.ca.

The Fitzgeralds – May 28

The Fitzgerald Family will be bringing their own brand of high-energy fiddle and group step-dancing to the Fergus Grand Theatre for the Guelph Celtic Orchestra Seasonal Finale on Saturday May 28 at 8 p.m. Featuring champion Canadian old-time fiddlers Julie (24), Kerry (23), and Tom (20) supported by brother Pat (25) on percussion, and a repertoire that includes traditional jigs and reels alongside bluegrass, jazz and swing, Celtic and gospel, it promises to be a great night out. The Guelph Celtic Orchestra open their 2015/16 season with an encore performance from Canadian Folk Music Award nominees Shane Cook and Jake Charron​. The show takes place on Saturday, November 7 2015 at 7:30 p.m. at the Guelph Little Theatre, 176 Morris Street, Guelph. The Guelph Celtic Orchestra Season Finale takes place on Friday May 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Red Chevron, 34 Elizabeth Street, Guelph. The performance (directed by Fiona McCairley) will also feature the orchestra’s award winning step dancers, and, as usual, it will be followed by a ceilidh dance, called by Maureen Mulvey O’Leary. St. Patrick’s Family Extravaganza

The Guelph Celtic Orchestra’s annual St. Patrick’s Family Extravaganza! takes place at the Italian Canadian Club, 135 Ferguson Street, Guelph on Saturday, March 14 2015 at 7:00 p.m. This year’s celebration of all things Irish features the orchestra alongside championship level Irish Dancers from the Butler Fearon O’Connor School of Irish Dance as well as members of the Guelph Pipe Band​. The Orchestra performance will be followed by a ceilidh called by Colleen Mulvey O’Leary. The Guelph Celtic Orchestra open their 2014/15 season with a performance featuring a CD release party for one of the top fiddlers in the world, Shane Cook accompanied by Jake Charron​. The show takes place on ​November 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Guelph Little Theatre, 176 Morris Street in Guelph. The Guelph Celtic Orchestra features professional and amateur musicians who are passionate about traditional Celtic music. The​ ensemble features a large fiddle section, guitars, accordion, piano, ​flutes​, whistle, and double bass, and is also accompanied by award-winning step dancers. Following the GCO performance, Shane Cook and Jake Charron will take to the stage for the CD release of their new duo album “Head to Head”. Shane Cook is a three-time Canadian Open National Champion, a three-time Canadian Grand Masters Champion, a Grand North American Champion, and the only foreign fiddler to win the US Grand National Championship. Fiddler and guitar duo Fiona McCairley & Bob MacLean take over Van Gogh’s Ear, Guelph on Sunday March 16 from 2-4 p.m. This pay what you can show promises to be energetic and engaging, and lots of fun. Fiona McCairley is an award-winning fiddler and Director of the Guelph Celtic Orchestra. Bob MacLean is founder of the Waterloo-Wellington Guitar Summit. The afternoon will also feature step-dancing from the McCairley sisters.
