Irish Mythen at The Rookery

Irish Mythen will be at The Rookery in Kitchener for a house concert on Saturday March 28 at 7:30 p.m. If you’ve never been to an Irish Mythen show, you should get there – it’s an unforgettable experience. If you’ve never been to a Rookery house concert, you should go – they put on some wonderful hospitality, and these days, house concerts are a great way to enjoy fabulous music in an intimate atmosphere that allows you to hang out with the artist before and after the performance.

Irish Mythen travelled the world as a singer-songwriter before settling in Canada and making Prince Edward Island her home. Her latest album, the self-titled “Irish Mythen” has been nominated for a 2015 East Coast Music Award, in the Roots/Traditional Solo Recording of the Year category. For this performance Irish will be joined by percussionist Cheryl Prashker. Check out our interview with Irish recorded at the Folk Music Ontario conference in October 2014.

The opening act for the evening will be Al Parrish who performed for 17 years with the internationally acclaimed band Tanglefoot and now performs new, original material, carefully chosen covers and traditional songs on acoustic guitars, Currah double bass, or singing a cappella.

About The Rookery
The Rookery believes in creating events that bring joy to our lives and to the lives of those who attend. We also believe in spreading this joy to combat suffering and injustice on this planet. So we provide cruelty-free food, and we work with the performing artists to direct funds and attention to an organization we both agree is creating positive change in the world. For this show, 20% of the proceeds will be going to The Food Empowerment Project – an incredibly effective organization that shows us how our food choices can change the world.
