Folk Roots Radio Episode 482: In Conversation with... Martha Renaud

Welcome to another very special hour of Folk Roots Radio, as we give over the whole of Episode 482 to an in-depth conversation with our favourite songwriters, LaSalle ON’s Martha Renaud. Martha Renaud is a fine storytelling songwriter and hugely underrated. She’s also pretty prolific – she’s just released her fourth album since 2015, “Wonderland”. So, settle down and enjoy Martha Renaud In Conversation… on Folk Roots Radio. Check out the full playlist below.

Interview

Martha Renaud is a wonderful singer-songwriter with the ability to write from the heart – and touch the soul. A late comer as far as her music is concerned, “Wonderland” is her fourth album since 2015. The new album features nine songs that tell stories but also provide some time for reflection. Produced by fellow singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist David Lum (who plays a multitude of instruments on the album), the new album has a lovely feel to it. The recording also features cameos from Gwen Potter on viola, and Katty Lepp on background vocals. It’s also beautifully packaged, with some fine illustrations from Owen Swain, and liner notes that you can actually read. The perfect compliment to the beautiful songs the album contains. During our conversation, we also play a couple of songs from Martha Renaud’s excellent 2017 album “Elements”.
