We’re changing things up on Episode 456 of Folk Roots Radio as we bring you London ON singer-songwriter Sarah Smith and her band live from an under renovation Bank Theatre in Leamington ON, as part of a wonderful session recorded for our video series, the Sun Parlour Coffee House Sessions. Four songs from a fabulous live performer and her band, and an opportunity to chat to Sarah while on stage. We also check out new music from Jon Brooks, Logan and Nathan, Jessica Heine, Leaf Rapids, Vishtèn, Mark Martyre and Hugo Alley. Check out the full playlist below.

Interview

A seasoned road warrior, Sarah Smith’s powerful voice and introspective pop/rock songwriting have earned her a wide following across Canada, the United States, and Europe. Sarah has three full-length albums to her credit, including 2016’s “11” and a live DVD “Sarah Smith: Plugged and Unplugged”. Sarah Smith has also been named Best Singer Songwriter at both the London Music Awards and Jack Richardson Music Awards on several occasions, as well as Best Rock Artist and Fan Favourite. She was also named the Best Adult Contemporary Artist at the Toronto Independent Music Awards in 2015.

Host of Folk Roots Radio, Jan Hall started in Radio in 1993 at WEFT 90.1fm in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. Folk Roots Radio (formerly Royal City Rag) debuted on CFRU 93.3fm in August 2005 before developing into a syndicated radio show. As the host of Folk Roots Radio, Jan focuses on bringing new folk, roots and blues music and the voices of upcoming and independent artists to the airwaves. Jan is also a much sought after stage host and festival emcee. In 2019, Jan Hall received Folk Music Ontario's prestigious Estelle Klein Award for her contribution to Ontario's folk music community.
