Peter Boyer – Union Man

Peter Boyer from Same Latitude As Rome joined us in the studio CFRU 93.3fm in August 2013 to chat about “Union Man”, his tribute to the Canadian labour movement. For more information, visit www.samelatitudeasrome.com.

Perpetual e-Motion

Perpetual e-Motion, featuring Ed Howe and John Coté are an incredibly talented duo whose staple is a progressive folk/rock/celtic groove with elements of bluegrass and world music. They are joined us in the studio on July 20 2013 to chat about their album, “Perpetual e-motion”.

For more on Perpetual e-Motion visit their website at perpetuale-motion.com.

James Gordon – In The Studio

James Gordon has taken a break from his community activism and political aspirations to record his latest CD (the 25th – we’re counting), Coyote’s Calling. Coyote’s Calling features performances by James Gordon with a backing band that includes his sons Evan and Geordie, as well as Katherine Wheatley, Jane Lewis, Jude Vadala and Louisa Krátká.

James joined us in the studio on Saturday January 5 2013; the first opportunity for anyone in Guelph to hear tracks from Coyote’s Calling plus a new song from James, “Idle No More” written especially for the aboriginal rights campaign.

The Funky Mamas – In The Studio

The Funky Mamas joined us in the studio on October 13 2012 to chat and play songs from their new album “Pickin’ in the Garden”. The CD release concert takes place on Saturday October 20 at the Ignatius Jesuit Centre, just north of Woodlawn Ave on Highway 6. There will be two shows at 1.00 p.m. and 3.30 p.m. Tickets are very reasonably priced at $3 each or $10 for a family (suggested minimum donation) which sounds like an absolute steal. However, I’m sure they would love it if you decided to pay a little more and took a copy of their new CD home with you too!

The Funky Mamas specialize in music for everyone, children, families, even folkies! They feature ‘Mama Tannis’ – Tannis Maynard-Langedijk on guitar, ‘Mama Chantal’ – Chantal von Maydell on fiddle, ‘Mama Kate’ – Kate Vestula on banjo and banjo ukelele and ‘Mama Georgia’ – multi-instrumentalist Georgia Urban on pretty much everything else including the musical saw! Needless to say, they all like to sing. For more information, visit www.thefunkymamas.com.

Bry Webb – In The Studio

Bry Webb, formerly of The Constantines joined us in the studio on March 17 2012 to chat about his new solo album “Provider” and play a few tunes. It was one of our best live performances ever, and a great conversation. Enjoy!
