Playlist: Episode 161

Folk Roots Radio on August 2 2014 (Episode 161) focused on the inaugural Kingsville Folk Music Festival (August 8-10) and featured interviews with Peter Boyer (from Same Latitude As Rome) and Fred Penner as well as an in-studio appearance by Tia McGraff.

The first ever Kingsville Folk Music Festival takes place from August 8-10 2014 in Lakeside Park, Kingsville. They have set the bar high with a stellar line-up featuring Bruce Cockburn, Valdy, Ken Whiteley and David Francey among others. With a broad mandate to feature acoustic roots music of all types and 50% Canadian content, it promises to be a great weekend for anyone who loves folk music. Check out kingsvillefolkfest.org for all the details and to buy your tickets.

We couldn’t find space in the show for a musical guilty pleasure segment this week however if you have a guilty pleasure you’d like to share – that song you still love though you think other people would find it unfashionable (believe me, they won’t), get in touch. We’d love to play it for you! And, if you have a good story about why you love that song, so much the better.

Well, that’s about all we have time for this week. Next week, DJ MacDee will be sitting in, as we’ll be off to Kingsville. Thanks MacDee!

You can find the full playlist for the show below. Thanks to all the artists who share their music with us, and thank you for listening. We’ll see you next week!

You can listen to the show again in the CFRU 93.3fm archive HERE.
