Folk Roots Radio Episode 474: feat. Dayna Manning & More New Releases

Dayna Manning joins us on Episode 474 of Folk Roots Radio to chat about her latest album, “Morning Light”. Morning Light is a fabulous chamber folk recording with a wonderful and sumptuous feel – and a great selection of original and traditional songs. Dayna Manning has also released a fine book about songwriting entitled “Many Moons: A Songwriter’s Memoir” which tells the story of her three decade career in music using twelve of her own songs to guide the way. It’s a great interview – we hope you’ll stay with us to check it out. We also include new music from Casati, Matt Zaddy, Unfaithful Servants, The Sweet Lowdown and Matt Patershuk. Check out the full playlist below.

Interview

Dayna Manning is a founding member of Canadiana folk trio Trent Severn who, after three albums, are currently on hiatus.

On fourth solo album “Morning Light”, Dayna Manning feels like that she has finally discovered her destiny as a performer. “I feel like I’ve found my musical home right her in my hometown”.

Morning Light features eight Dayna Manning songs, three traditional songs and a cover of Joni Michell’s “Free Man In Paris”. The new album was recorded with the help of Stratford Festival alumnus Ben Bolt-Martin who arranged all of the songs on the new recording for a chamber quartet featuring violin, cello, flute and French horn.

Dayna Manning also runs Folk Army, a private music instruction academy in Stratford ON whose mission is to empower young girls to make a positive change in their communities through creativity, thoughtful performance and positive self-esteem.
