AIRPLAY ON FOLK ROOTS RADIO – IMPORTANT INFORMATION
We welcome music submissions for airplay consideration.
Are you interested in airplay on Folk Roots Radio?
If so, there are some important things to consider before sending us your music.
What we accept for consideration:
Folk Roots Radio typically plays folk, roots, Americana, singer/songwriters, alt. country and blues music. We will/do push those boundaries when the mood suits us, and if the song fits, as every episode is curated for sound and feel.
We would like to encourage you to send your music to us digitally rather than on CD, as this will save you money, is better for the planet and less time consuming for us to audition. We will request a CD if we believe we need one.
As we are currently receiving more music than we could ever possibly play, it would be helpful to us if you ensure that your package is as complete as possible. Please include a one-sheet/EPK, with information about your recording, your bio, album info/credits, web links and lyrics (if available). If there are specific songs on an album (focus tracks) you believe are most suitable for airplay, please indicate that – although we, of course, will make our own determination in that regard.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT FOLK ROOTS RADIO RECEIVES DOZENS OF SUBMISSIONS EACH WEEK. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO GUARANTEE AIRPLAY, TRACK AIRPLAY PROGRESS, PROVIDE FEEDBACK OR RETURN E-MAIL RESPONSES.
Digital Submissions:
To submit your music digitally (our preference), please send it via download link by e-mail to jan[at]folkrootsradio.com* rather than our Facebook page or Twitter feed. You can also send us a link to your album on Airplay Direct.
Please note that we require digital downloads to be mp3s at 320 kbps, or as wav (Flac or AIFF) files. It is very time-consuming to have to write and request better quality files, so paying attention to this is appreciated.
We also recommend that you specify the bit rate for all mp3 files you send. It is our belief, that you should be sending the best quality mp3 files available which is 320 kbps. As we store all our music on a dedicated music computer as 320 kbps mp3s it helps to receive them that way in the first place – with metadata attached. Having to input information after the fact is time-consuming for us and risks a transcription error, which is an annoyance for everyone.
Please ensure that all meta data is included alongside an EPK (electronic press kit) that includes bio, album info/credits, and lyrics (if available). Feel free to share links to your website etc.
