Fundraiser for Mary Anne Epp

Our good friend Jack Cooper from BerLen Music will be joining us on Folk Roots Radio on April 5 2014 to chat about a special fundraiser for singer-songwriter Mary Anne Epp taking place at the ANAF in Guelph on April 12 at 8:00 p.m. A minimum donation of $10 is suggested and you can register online here. Mary-Anne’s song, “Rhoda” was written about an encounter with a homeless woman. Little did she know that she herself would end up homeless one day. Mary-Anne has written many great songs and hopefully this fundraiser will help Mary-Anne get back on her feet. To learn more about Mary-Anne’s story, read this article in Chateleine. There, but for the grace of God…

Jonathan Byrd

Jonathan Byrd returns to Guelph on Friday April 11 2014 for a Folkway Music sponsored show with his Pick Up Cowboys at Magnolia Café. The North Carolina native has been gaining quite the reputation for his live performances, as well as strong songwriting comparisons to John Prine, Guy Clark and Lyle Lovett. Tickets are $20 and available online here or by calling 519-766-4663 for reservations. Seating is limited. This show is sure to sell out so don’t delay. For your enjoyment, here is Jonathan Byrd with “I Was An Oak Tree” from his 2010 album Cackalack. For more information, visit jonathanbyrd.com.

Gayle Ackroyd

Guelph-based singer-songwriter Gayle Ackroyd will be playing live at the Three Rivers Coffee House, 40 Margaret St, Guelph (River of Life Church) on April 12 2014 at 7:00 p.m. She’ll also be joining us live in the studio on Folk Roots Radio on Saturday April 3 during our second hour. Can’t wait!. This is a demo of a new song from Gayle called “The Rains Came Down”. We really like it. What do you think?

Episode 143: Clela Errington & Fred Eaglesmith

We had two interviews on Folk Roots Radio on March 29 (Episode 143). Toronto-based singer-songwriter Clela Errington joined us in the first hour, and Fred Eaglesmith after the break.
