Classically trained Toronto singer-songwriter and fingerstyle guitarist Shawna Caspi has just released her fourth album “Forest Fire” – which is more of a band project than her previous releases. Shawna joined us in the studio recently to chat about the album and record a solo set for the video series, the Sun Parlour Coffee House Sessions. We’re pleased to bring the interview from the session to Episode 343 of Folk Roots Radio alongside a look at more of the great new music we’ve been receiving. Kitchener-based singer-songwriter Lynn Jackson joins us on New & Noted this week to chat about her new recording “Songs of Rain Snow & Remembering”, an album that sees her broadening her musical palette with the addition of piano and cello to add texture to her acoustic guitar driven songs. As always, we also including a good selection of music from the new releases that we’ve received. We also pay our own tribute to one of Canada’s greatest songwriters, Newfoundland’s Ron Hynes who sadly passed away last week.
