Barry James Payne (String Bone) In Conversation – Folk Roots Radio

Southern Ontario singer-songwriter Barry James Payne is the architect behind String Bone, his solo project who play a mix of Americana and Canadiana. That’s rootsy folk & country with a bit of blues & rock thrown into the mix. He is also a member of Celtic, traditional and world music ensemble Rant Maggie Rant. One of the most thoughtful musicians out there, Barry James Payne joins us on Folk Roots Radio Live for a wide ranging conversation about his music career, the impact of music streaming on artistic income and a musician’s life in Covid Times. We’re all about the 2017 Home County Music & Art Festival on Episode 330 of Folk Roots Radio. The 44th edition of the festival takes place July 14 – 16, 2017 in Victoria Park, London ON. Admission is by donation, and because the festival is held in a downtown London park, it is, also, totally accessible. Alongside a fabulous musical line-up, the festival also features some great art and craft vendors. To learn more about the festival and its 2017 line-up we talk to artistic director Darin Addison. We love the banjo on Folk Roots Radio which is a very good thing, as this edition has more than the usual amount included. We talk to Ian Molesworth about Banjofest – a one day festival taking place in Guelph in March and listen to some of the artists who will be taking part. We also check in on some of the artists who will be performing at the 10th annual Hillside Inside which takes place in Downtown Guelph from February 9-12.
