Folk Roots Radio Episode 643: We’re All About The Music! (Canadian Pizza Edition)

Join us for Episode 643, the ‘Canadian Pizza Edition’ of Folk Roots Radio for an hour of great new music with a distinctly Canadian feel. This time around we check out the latest releases from JoJo Worthington, Terra Spencer & Ben Caplan, Rosanne Baker Thornley, Lisa Richard, Andrew Collins, Shane Pendergast, Michael Darcy & The Atlantic Tramps, Village Manor, Kyle McKearney, Mike Edel, The Ennis Sisters, Artists For Action , Angelique Francis, Mariel Buckley and Cynthia Hamar. So, enjoy the music, though if you want to savour it alongside your favourite pizza, that works too! Remember, If you like the artists you hear on this show and want to support them, don’t just stream their music – BUY their music, and then you’ll really make a difference to their income at a time when it is becoming much more difficult to make a living as a musician. Folk Roots Radio Episode 486: Our Favourite Albums of 2019

It’s that time of year… we’re holding back the interviews on Episode 486 of Folk Roots Radio as we check out our ten favourite albums of 2019. One of the best things about doing a radio show is getting loads of great music to listen to each week. One of the hardest things to do is to take all that fabulous music and narrow it down to your ten favourite recordings of the year. You can check out The Top 10 on this episode. We’ll be playing more of our favourite albums on upcoming episodes of Folk Roots Radio. If you don’t see an album you really loved, maybe it didn’t make it up on to our radar, or perhaps we never received a copy. Please consider sharing your favourite albums in the comments – we might even spin them on a future episode of the show. Listen to The Top 10 and check out the full playlist below. Enjoy!

JoJo Worthington – TCYK – Folk Roots Radio Interview

Canadian producer, songwriter and composer Jojo Worthington released her latest project “TCYK (The Company You Keep)” earlier this summer. Co-produced with William Crann, the new album sees Jojo Worthington moving further into the world of electronic sounds and looping, on a wonderfully textured exploration of her experience as a woman navigating interpersonal relationships – whether that relationship is with another person or the divine. Despite being small in stature, with only five tracks, this is a fabulous album that gives up secrets every time you listen to it. TCYK is ultimately a celebration of our attempts at connection, or as Worthington asserts: “we need to stabilize”— a rallying cry for mutual support between sexes. To learn more about the project we caught up with Jojo Worthington at home in Waterloo, ON. For more information, visit jojoworthington.com. Music: Jojo Worthington “Argument”, “Small Encounters” and “Stabilize” from “TCYK (The Company You Keep)” (2019, Self).
