Grayson Capps on Cayamo – Folk Roots Radio Interview

Grayson Capps is a storytelling singer-songwriter from L.A. (Lower Alabama), with a wonderfully warm laidback style, that can’t help but be expressed in his songwriting and humorous on-stage banter. He landed on our radar, one morning, in the middle of the Caribbean, on the Cayamo roots music cruise. We were having a late breakfast in the pub while Grayson was in ear shot, on the atrium stage, sharing his stories and songs. His performance was so engaging we had to rush breakfast to catch the rest of the set. After the show, we sat down with Grayson to learn more about his music. Grayson Capps is the son of New Orleans based writer Ronald Everett Capps who wrote the novel “Off Magazine Street”, which was developed into the 2004 Scarlet Johanssen / John Travolta movie, A Love Song For Bobby Long – which was written and directed by Shainee Gabel (Grayson Capps wrote the title track and has several musical cameos in the film). Grayson Capps has just released a new compilation of his songs, “South Front Street – A Retrospective 1997 – 2019” (2020, Royal Potato Family). For more information, visit graysoncapps.com. Music: Grayson Capps “New Again”, “Bag Of Weed” and “You Can’t Turn Around” from “Scarlett Roses” (2017, Royal Potato Family).

Steve Poltz on Cayamo – Folk Roots Radio Interview

It is always a pleasure to sit down with Nashville based singer-songwriter Steve Poltz to chat about his music – especially so, when you’re in the middle of the Caribbean on the Cayamo roots music cruise. His third time on Cayamo, Steve was joined by partner Sharon, sister Kathy and Dad Joe; Steve and Sharon actually tied the knot on the boat, surrounded by 500 of their closest friends! A brilliant live performer, Steve Poltz is scheduled to be back in Canada to play the 6th Roots North Music Festival in Orillia ON on Saturday April 25 2020. The Roots North Music Festival takes place at a variety of venues across Downtown Orillia from Thursday – Sunday, April 23-26. For more information about the music of Steve Poltz, visit poltz.com. We’re Sailing on Cayamo…

We’re sailing on the roots music cruise Cayamo from January 17-24. The plan is to enjoy a little R & R and respite from, let’s be honest, the (at times) brutal reality of a Canadian winter. We’ll be relaxing and enjoying amazing music from a bunch of great artists (I’m not going to name any of them so you’ll have to go and check them out here yourselves and possibly consider signing up for a future trip – it’s pretty cool!). Generally we will be recharging our batteries prior to coming back with a whole bunch of new music and interviews to share with you. In the meantime, why not check out all the great music and interviews we currently offer here. While we’re away we’ll be playing a couple of archive shows but that isn’t a bad thing. If you don’t believe me – check out our archives on Mixcloud. There’s lots of great stuff to keep you entertained until our return. See you with an all new show and interviews the weekend of January 31!
