Lynn Jackson – The Acoustic Sessions

Kitchener-based singer-songwriter Lynn Jackson releases her new album (with Chris Boyne), “The Acoustic Sessions” on September 7 2014 at The Jane Bond in Waterloo. Admission is just $10 for the show which also gets you copy of the CD, which is an amazing deal. Special guests include Joe Dunn, Scott Fitzpatrick, Andy Miller, Steve Wood and Wendy Wright. Opening set on the night will be by Ottawa’s Slo Tom.

After ten years, and six albums, Lynn decided to revisit 13 songs in a more sparse acoustic setting. The resulting album, ‘The Acoustic Sessions’ (2014, Busted Flat Records) was recorded with her long-time collaborator Chris Boyne at Norman Blake’s (Teenage Fanclub) home studio.

“On the original recordings, some of these songs featured strings, electric guitars, piano – much bigger arrangements. The tracks on the new album are closer to how they sounded when I wrote them. But instead of just releasing bare-bones version of the songs, I’ve fleshed them out a bit with upright bass, pedal steel, violin, national steel – still minimal, but with a little extra sparkle here and there. Norman has a great ear and captured everything beautifully.”

Lynn Jackson will be hitting the road this fall to bring the album to Western Canada in addition to her regular list of gigs across Ontario. She will travel through Northern Ontario and the Prairies, all the way out to Vancouver Island.
