Eaglewood Folk 2013

A great Canadian summer music experience occurs every August in Pefferlaw (Georgina). On the fourth weekend of August, over 1500 people gather annually to participate in the Eaglewood Folk Festival, a three-day celebration of diverse and original folk/roots music.

A mix of established singer songwriters and new, young talent create truly authentic music, in an intimate woodland setting. Discover the Eaglewood experience…all ages, all inclusive, all accessible, appealing to hippy and hipster, ultra-relaxed…it’s what makes this such a remarkable festival.

The 1989 vision of Cheryl Gaudet and Joe Ross evolved over the years and became the Eaglewood Folk Festival – a non-profit volunteer based community organization administered by a board of directors, an artistic director and a dedicated group of amazing volunteers.

For the past “24” years the festival has been held at the beautiful Eaglewood Resort and campground in Pefferlaw, ON. This venue is where it all started. Owner, Marilyn Oldfield’s front deck is transformed into the main stage and a large part of her house becomes the “green room” for performers. Two additional smaller stages are nestled in the woods.

Eaglewood is unique in that it was created to be an accessible (wheelchair friendly) resort designed for family and organizational camping.

Offering a few cabins, a large common room with kitchen, a barn, shaded central picnic table area, decked ponds, and a large acreage for campsites; all this has been enjoyed by festival patrons every August. The resort is now for sale, as Marilyn will be retiring. Eaglewood Folk Festival however is not retiring and will be working toward celebrating their 25th year at a new venue location.

The musical lineup is diverse and exciting as ever, so things will be a buzz Aug 23, 24 and 25 in Pefferlaw. Check out the website, buy your tickets and make your way to Eaglewood next weekend!
